Greece is selling 110 beaches


While Greece is trying to recover from the financial crisis, the government decided to sell the beaches throughout the country since the beginning of July. According to the Greek press, nearly 110 beaches that are offered for sale by the agency in charge of privatization, Tarpeid.

But this news is not to the taste of everyone. If some major hotels welcome privatize the beaches close to them, organizations of environmental protection are very worried. Some beaches are full reserve Natura 2000, ie protected by Greek law. If buyers will build large resorts, this is the charm of the Greek coast and its sandy beaches is at risk. Several petitions are circulating on the net to stop this action. More than 200,000 signatures have been collected.
